The aim of the training is to provide the participant with the skills needed to carry out wet room waterproofing work in accordance with current guidelines and regulations, and to successfully complete both the written exam and the practical demonstration required for the certificate. The participant is responsible for arranging their own demonstration site. 

Content of the training

• Laws, regulations and guidelines related to wet room construction 

• Building physics, fundamentals of thermal and moisture behaviour 

• Substrate construction materials for waterproofing 

• Waterproofing and surface materials, and HVAC-related components 

• Measuring devices, performing measurements, evaluating results, documentation and reporting 

• Identifying and eliminating occupational safety risks 

• Written exam 

The Wet Room Waterproofer Certification Training consists of theoretical instruction, a written exam, and a practical demonstration. The participant is responsible for arranging a site for the demonstration. A minimum of 18 months of work experience in the construction sector is required for the Wet Room Waterproofer Certificate. 

The training and the written exam are carried out in one day at Taitotalo. The evaluation of the demonstration, which you arrange at your own worksite, takes 2–3 hours. The training, written exam, and demonstration are conducted in Finnish. The use of an interpreter is not permitted. The training fee includes study materials and lunch. 

The price for the demonstration assessment in the Helsinki metropolitan area is €170 (+ 25.5% VAT) per person per assessment, plus evaluator travel costs for distances exceeding 20 km (+ 25.5% VAT). For assessments elsewhere in Finland, any additional costs incurred by Taitotalo must be agreed upon in advance between the candidate and the evaluator. The demonstration is invoiced separately and is not included in the training fee. The demonstration must be completed within one year of the certification training. 

Who is the training suitable for?

The training is intended for individuals with experience or formal education in the construction sector who specialize in tiling and waterproofing work. It is also well suited for those who commission wet room construction work. 

Obtaining the certificate requires 1.5 years of work experience in the construction industry or equivalent knowledge and skills. 

In cooperation with
